Strauss Trades Business Booster Contest
Sponsored by Engelbert Strauss, Inc.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
1. SPONSOR
The Strauss Trades Business Booster Contest (“Contest”) is sponsored by Engelbert Strauss, Inc., 1320 Main Street, Venice, CA 90291, (310) 425-1100, media@strauss.com (“Sponsor”). Any reference to “Sponsor” in these terms and conditions (“Official Rules”) includes any of Sponsor’s direct and indirect parents, subsidiaries, and affiliated companies.
2. ELIGIBILITY
The Contest is open only to businesses physically located in the State of California within a 75-mile radius of BMO Stadium, 3939 South Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90037 (“Applicant Business”). The Applicant Business must be an active, private for-profit or non-profit business entity in good standing in California at the time of entry and at all times in connection with the Contest. The Applicant Business must also be a Small Business (defined below), in each case at the time of entry and at all times in connection with the Contest. “Small Business” means an independently owned and operated business that is not dominant in its field of operation, the principal office of which is located in California, the officers of which are domiciled in California, and which, together with affiliates, has 100 or fewer employees and average annual gross receipts of $15,000,000 or less over the previous 3 years. The entrant must be an owner of the Applicant Business and at least age 18 years or older (“Entrant”). Employees, officers, and directors of Sponsor, its Contest organizers, and each of their immediate family members and household members are not eligible to participate in the Contest. The Contest is subject to, and is void where prohibited by, applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations. Employees, officers, and directors (including immediate family members (spouse, parent, child and sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and members of the same household, whether or not related) of the Sponsor, Los Angeles Football Club (“Club”), Major League Soccer, L.L.C. (“MLS”), Soccer United Marketing, LLC (“SUM”), Pro Soccer Development, LP (“MLSNP”), and Player Development, LLC (“PDEV” and together with Club, MLS, SUM, and MLSNP, collectively, the “MLS Entities”) and each of their respective parents, affiliated companies, subsidiaries, licensees, distributors, dealers, retailers, printers and advertising and promotion agencies, and any and all other companies associated with the Contest are not eligible to participate or win a prize. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations. Void outside Territory and where prohibited or restricted by law, rule or regulation.
3. APPLICATION PERIOD
The application period begins at 12:00 a.m. PDT on June 4, 2025 and ends at 11:59 p.m. PDT on June 30, 2025 (“Application Period”).
4. HOW TO ENTER
To enter, Entrants must submit a completed application form, including providing basic business and other information, via the Contest website at https://us.strauss.com/pages/strauss-business-booster during the Application Period (“Submission”). Limit 1 Submission per Applicant Business. Incomplete, illegible, corrupted, or untimely Submissions are void and will be not accepted.
Sponsor reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all Entrants and Applicant Businesses. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting a Submission or their Applicant Business, Sponsor will determine the correct Entrant and Applicant Business, which may be based on the information associated with the Submission.
As a part of the Submission, Entrant will be required to complete questions regarding itself and the Applicant Business. All requested information on the Submission must be complete for an Entrant and Applicant Business to be considered. Any communication or information transmitted to Sponsor as part of the Submission, whether through the Contest website or via email, will not be treated as confidential information of the Entrant. By submitting a Submission, Entrant represents and warrants that it has all requisite power and authority to act on behalf of the Applicant Business with respect to the Contest.
Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, and modify the Contest if any fraud, technical failures, or other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest or the ability to provide the prizes. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any individual or business it finds to be tampering with the entry process or violating these Official Rules.
5. PRIZES
Grand Prize (1 Winner):
- One-time $5,000 small business grant
- 4 VIP experience tickets to the LAFC / LA Galaxy match on July 19, 2025
- LAFC player meet and greet
- Moment of recognition at BMO Stadium at the LAFC v LA Galaxy match on July 19, 2025, subject to availability
Approximate retail value (“ARV”) of Grand Prize: $40k
Runner-Up Prizes (3 Winners):
- 4 VIP experience tickets to the LAFC / LA Galaxy match on July 19, 2025
- LAFC player meet and greet
- Moment of recognition at BMO Stadium at the LAFC v LA Galaxy match on July 19, 2025, subject to availability
- Business logo advertising at BMO Stadium for up to approximately 7 days (1 week)
ARV of each Runner-Up Prize: $35k
If there is not a sufficient number of Entrants to award 4 total winners, Sponsor will award less Runner-Up Prizes. Actual duration and placement of logo advertising are subject to Sponsor’s and LAFC’s (defined in Section 9 below) discretion and availability. No substitution or transfer of a prize is permitted, except by Sponsor who reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value or with equivalent cash value if the advertised prize becomes unavailable, as well as to provide additional prizes. All taxes associated with the receipt or use of the prize and all charges and incidental costs, if any, are the sole responsibility of the winners.
6. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
Winners will be selected by a panel of individuals designated by Sponsor based on the following criteria:
- Creativity, quality, and originality of Submission
- Size and newness of Applicant Business
- Relevance to the theme of a new business startup, business vision, personal business journey, and community connection and involvement
Judging will occur between approximately July 1 and July 6, 2025. Winners will be notified by email or telephone using the information provided at entry on or around July 7, 2025.
To be confirmed a winner, the applicable Entrant will be required to execute and return to Sponsor an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release that is provided by Sponsor within 2 days of notification from Sponsor. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to respond within the required time period, or fails to comply with these Official Rules, the prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner.
7. PRIZE RESTRICTIONS
No prize may be transferred or assigned to another person or business. All expenses not specifically identified as included in a prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the prizes are awarded “AS IS” and WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, and Sponsor disclaims any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
8. LICENSE GRANT AND PUBLICITY
By making a Submission, each Entrant grants the Released Parties (defined in Section 9 below) the non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable, transferable, sublicensable right to use, reproduce, copy, publish, display, distribute, perform, translate, adapt, modify, and otherwise exploit the Submission and Entrant’s winning of and participation in any of the prizes (as applicable), including on behalf of the Applicant Business, on their own or in other works in any media now known or hereafter devised, including posting the winner(s) on the social media accounts and websites of the Released Parties, provided that the Released Parties have no obligation to exploit any of the foregoing. Entrant warrants that they have the ability to grant such rights to the Released Parties and that the exercise of these rights in connection with the Contest will not infringe on any intellectual or proprietary rights of third parties.
9. RELEASE AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY
By participating, Entrants agree to release and hold harmless the following entities (“Released Parties”): Sponsor, MLS Entities, and any other companies that assist with fulfilling, administering, or promoting the Contest, including any officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives, and agents of the foregoing entities, in each case from and against any claim, cause of action, damage, including personal injury or property damage, cost, and expense arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize. For clarity, the MLS Entities are not parties to these Official Rules or sponsors of the Contest.
Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, undelivered, destroyed, or lost entries due to system errors or failures, or faulty transmissions or entries not received resulting from any hardware or software failures of any kind, including lost or unavailable network connections. Sponsor may prohibit an Entrant from participating in the Contest or winning the prizes if, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, it determines that the Entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other Entrants or the Released Parties.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will the Released Parties be responsible or otherwise liable for any CLAIMS, damages, or losses of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, related to the Contest, and acceptance, participation in, and use of the prizes are at the winner’s sole risk.
10. DISPUTES
These Official Rules and the Contest will be construed in accordance with and governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. Entrant irrevocably submits to venue and exclusive personal jurisdiction in the federal and state courts in New Castle County, Delaware for any dispute arising under these Official Rules or otherwise in relation to the Contest.
11. PRIVACY
In order to participate in the Contest, Entrants may be required to supply certain personal information about themselves and employees of their Applicant Business. This information will be used by Sponsor for the purposes of administering the Contest. Any personal information will be collected, processed, and used in accordance with Sponsor’s Privacy Policy, which is available at https://us.strauss.com/policies/privacy-policy. By submitting a Submission and subject to applicable law, Entrant agrees Sponsor may use Entrant’s personal information submitted with the Submission for purposes of prize fulfillment and may add Entrant to Sponsor’s marketing email list, and Entrant consents to receiving marketing and promotional communications from Sponsor.
